The Yellow Feather Campaign

During the First World War, women across Britain distributed white feathers to men who were not in uniform - symbols of what they saw as cowardice in the face of national crisis. It was a simple, non-violent gesture designed to shame those they believed were avoiding their duty.

Today, we revive that tradition with a new colour….. and a different kind of crisis.

⚠️ What Is the Yellow Feather Campaign?

The Yellow Feather Campaign is a public, symbolic protest against those in authority who:

• Knew about the existence of grooming gangs,

• Failed to act / try to stop them, or

• Deliberately suppressed this knowledge to “manage community tensions.”

In doing so, they knowingly left girls at ongoing risk of rape, abuse, and trafficking - sacrificing their safety for the sake of political convenience and institutional cowardice.

🟡 What the Yellow Feather Represents

The yellow feather is a symbol of public disgust at this betrayal. It is:

1. A condemnation of the decision to prioritise “community cohesion” over the safety and justice of vulnerable girls - many of them working-class, many already voiceless.

2. A non-violent expression of collective anger. We reject the false belief that public outrage equals violence. This campaign is proof that you can be furious - and remain lawful and peaceful.

3. A reminder that these officials are accountable to us. Public servants are not above scrutiny. They are funded by the very people they failed to protect. Their cowardice is theirs - not ours.

4. A message that the damage is not forgotten. The girls harmed by their choices are still living with the consequences. The trauma didn’t disappear - and neither will public memory.

How It Works

• Yellow feathers will be distributed as digital images - to be posted publicly on social media or emailed directly to the individuals or institutions who failed in their duty.

• Each yellow feather is a quiet but clear statement:

“You knew. You chose not to act. We will not forget that.”

🚫 Our Code of Conduct

We wish to be very clear:-

This campaign does not endorse threats, harassment, or abuse of any kind. In fact, we urge you to avoid any language that may be viewed as abusive or threatening in any way.

Sending a yellow feather is NOT an invitation to hatred - it is a statement of moral accountability.  And therefore we have to be accountable for OUR own actions and behaviour. Our strength is in maintaining our discipline and integrity, whilst refusing to be silenced or baited.

We are not here to do harm. We are here to name it - and those who allowed it.

✊ Why We Do This

The Yellow Feather Campaign exists because the safety of children is not negotiable.

Because rape is not a price that should EVER be paid for political ease.

Because cowardice in the face of organised abuse is not neutrality - it is complicity.

We cannot undo the harm. But we can refuse to let it be forgotten.

We are not here to do harm. We are here to name it - and those who allowed it.
